The Margaret's Place Wardrobe Intelligence® Executive Team:

Margaret Low: Couturier, Founder and CEO

MargaretMargaret's passion:

seeing what you don't see and showing you her
vision of you

Margaret as your mentor:

Margaret's Expertise:

The essence of Margaret's craftsmanship lies in her high attention to detail in pattern-crafting; fabric cut and lay; hand stitching and overall finishing of the inside and outside of the garment. Margaret possesses a unique intelligence of creating garments that flatter all body types. Her ability extends to reconstructing vintage garments or ill fitting clothes till they look and wear like new.

Margaret's Place has been capturing the attention of professional women since the 80's.
As a young entrepreneur at the age of 17, Margaret began tailoring for one-off clients prior to any professional training. She later gained her education in Fashion Design at the prestigious Allan Chai design school in Singapore. Margaret also learned the skill of couture and dress cutting with distinction grades during the 80's.

In 1976-1985, Margaret worked as a sample machinist for 70's Japanese aspirational fashion brand Miki in Singapore known for their craftsmanship and timeliness. It was here where she gained experience in creating 'model' garments for mass manufacturing. Margaret has worked with corporate companies like Singapore's prestigious 5-star Raffles Hotel, and Singapore Airlines' cabin crew to create high quality tailored uniforms.

From 1986 till this present day with a career spanning 30 years, Margaret established what is known as Margaret's Place. She had pioneered and sustained this business prior to Soochen & Soozhee joining back to top of pageher in the early 90's.

creating breathtaking garments and intelligent sustainable wardrobe choices that connects you to you

Soochen as your mentor:

Soochen's Expertise:

Soochen as CEO of Margaret's Place since the early 90's, is an accomplished womenswear designer with a 1st class honours degree in Fashion Design at UTS. Her expertise lies in designing womenswear that elongates the female form through her use of asymmetric lines, unique colour choice and textures. There is a timeless, professional elegance in her designs which makes them continually eye catching season after season, year after year. This experience occurs each time clients put on an outfit designed by Soochen.

Soochen's 10 year industry experience includes working with couture houses Jonathan Ward and Akira Isogawa in Sydney; as well as large international fashion manufacturing houses dealing in export sales, shipping and international trade. Her experiences have exposed her to the different levels of clothing needs from the individual to the mass. This understanding has enhanced her skills as a designer, enabling her to tailor her advice and designs to each unique client. In doing so, Soochen helps wardrobe clients make sustainable, timeless wardrobe choices.

Her sustainable philosophy when mentoring you about sustainable wardrobe choices are a result of her business endeavors: She was an active researcher of the 2005 ARIES (Australian Research Institute in Education for Sustainability) project at UTS. Her interviews with corporate companies like HP, Fuji Xerox on sustainable business strategies educated students of the MBA program as well as the wider public on these issues. Soochen is currently involved with Public Private Partnerships in Governance for Environmental sustainability as a research associate, educating Australia's business leaders about Corporate Social Responsibility.

At UTS Business, UTS Design, Whitehouse School of Design and University of Wollongong, Soochen has taught over 1000 future managers and designers to be ethical, entrepreneurial and inspirational back to top of page business leaders and professionals.
